 Summary of Activities
The school organized a variety of activities related to Chinese culture, cuisine, art, and more, giving children opportunities to learn about Chinese traditions and the origins of Chinese festivals from a young age. These activities also taught children to appreciate Chinese art and cultivated their sense of national identity.

K1 children explored themes and sub-themes: New Year, National Day, and the Dragon Boat Festival by designing and participating in different hands-on activities, which allowed them to experience the fun and festive atmosphere of the festivals. The theme “The World is So Big” helped K2 children understand that Hong Kong is part of China, introduced special features of China to them and let them observe Hong Kong’s location on the map of China. K3 children explored Chinese traditional arts, such as ink wash painting, paper-cutting, designing Chinese opera masks, Chinese calligraphy, evolution of Chinese characters and shadow puppetry, by participating in the extension activities stated in the Greenfield book “My Motherland”. They also made and tasted Chinese delicacies including Tanghulu (sugar-coated fruit), dumplings, and tangyuan (glutinous rice balls) together. The Greenfield book “Happy Holidays” cultivated children’s love for their hometown.
